During WWI and WWII soldiers would wait eagerly for the post to find them with news of home. There are many letters and post cards sent between the front line, and the home-front. When writing home, the soldiers would often leave out details of the horrible things they had seen. They did not want to upset their families. Instead they would write about everyday events that were happening to them.
