Lanser's Disc |
Historians have found a disc which has a soldier reading a letter home to his family. It is the only record of its kind.
We hear Private Henry Miller Lanser, talking to his 'Dear Mother and Father' and to his brother and sisters. He talks about his training, his 'jolly good' Christmas and his thoughts of home. This message was recorded 100 years ago. Do you think the people living at that time would speak differently to how Australians speak today? If you listen you will notice that he does not talk like we do today. He speaks very formally and he does not have a accent like Australians do today. |
